Alta Morris

June 12, 1935 — April 10, 2023

Alta Faye Morris passed away peacefully on April 10, 2023 at her son's home in Colorado Springs, Colorado where she has been living since late 2020.

She was born to the late Alton Woodrow McCarley and Opal Faye McDermett McCarley on June 12, 1935 at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Texas. She married William "Bill" Ira Morris on June 20, 1951 in Durant, Oklahoma. Alta was a very loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, and friend. There was never a doubt about how much she loved and lived for her family. She was also an avid pet lover and would always say that "I would never date a boy who was cruel to animals."

She held several positions while residing in Dallas to include Montgomery Ward and Texas Instruments in Richardson. In 1973, Bill and Alta moved from Dallas to Trinidad, Texas to be on Cedar Creek Lake where she lived close to her parents. She worked at Cedar Creek Bank for many years before becoming the legal secretary for the late Attorney George Trenary in Seven Points, Texas. At the lake she enjoyed boating, fishing, and skiing and loved her flowers and keeping the yard beautiful. She was Southern Baptist and attended the First Baptist Church of Tool, Texas. In 2015 she moved to a townhome in Colorado Springs just a half mile from her son and his family. There she attended Calvary United Methodist Church with her family.

She always loved to travel with family and did so any time the opportunity arose, which was often throughout her life. The family enjoyed many trips both in the U.S. and internationally when her husband Bill was employed by Braniff International Airlines for over twenty-five years. She had several great family vacations in Hawaii. On her 84th birthday she enjoyed breakfast in Dublin, Ireland and dinner in London, England. Ireland had always been on her "bucket list." Even as recent as summer 2022, she spent ten days in Orlando with her family visiting theme parks or just relaxing.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over fifty years, Bill; her parents, Alton and Opal McCarley; and her son-in-law, Don Wylie.

She is survived by her son, Steven Lynn (Jacqueline) Morris of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her daughter, Catherine Michele Wylie of Mabank, Texas; three grandsons, Steven Morris and Michael Morris of Colorado Springs, and Jeff Wylie of Mabank; and four great-grandsons, Ian Morris of Colorado Springs, and, Sabastyn Aderholt, Toryn Wylie, and Braxton Stout, all of Mabank.

Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Huckabee-Tomlinson Chapel, 100 Tomlinson Lane, Seven Points, TX. Service will be Friday, April 28, 2023 at Huckabee-Tomlinson Chapel at 10:00 AM.
