Beth Cox

On October 8, 2015, Beth Cox passed away peacefully at her lake house on Cedar Creek Lake in Tool, TX. She was 86 years old. Beth was born December 22, 19 28 in Athens, TX to parents Orby D. "Jack" and Ada Katherine Rogers. She grew up in Kemp, TX and graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Education. Her parents instilled Christian values. She was a member of the Methodist Church throughout her life. On July 17, 1948, she married John D. Cox and they were blessed with almost 63 years of marriage. They established roots in Irving where she was a dedicated and gifted school teacher, and involved in several community organizations including Irving Women's Club, Irving Symphony, among others. Upon their retirement on Cedar Creek Lake, she continued her community involvement joining local organizations such as bridge club and serving on the board for the literary Club of Cedar Creek Lake Library. Her proudest roles were those of loving wife, mother and grandmother. She greatly enjoyed hosting and entertaining her family and friends. Beth Cox was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John D. Cox, her sister, Katherine Thomas, and her parents. She is survived by her brother Julian "Buck" Rogers, daughters Jeanne Hight, Marcia Haman and husband Mark, and Mica Reilly and husband Larry, grandchildren John Hight, Jodi Schleter, Julie Weninger, Cory Cooper, Kyle Haman and Scott Haman, 5 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and their families. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, October 9, 2015 at Huckabee/Tomlinson Funeral Home at 100 Tomlinson Lane in Seven Points, Texas. Funeral services are planned for 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the same location. Burial will follow at Kemp Cemetery.
