~~Billy Jack (BJ) Haney of Kemp, TX slipped peacefully from the walks of this earthly life to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 14th, 2017 while at ETMC Athens. He was born 86 years ago in Waco, TX, son of John Leaman Haney and Rena Saxon Haney. After graduation from Waco High School, BJ went on to serve our country in the US Navy where is received the National Defense Service Medal and the Navy Occupations Service Medal; most of his duty assignment was on the USS Recovery.Â
Being a leader and man of integrity, BJ worked at LL Sam's Church Furniture Company in Waco, TX where he retired after 25 years as a Refinishing Foreman.Â
On August 30, 1975, he married Ms. Oleta Busby in Waco, TX; they moved to the Cedar Creek area in 1978 to start their life together.Â
He was a member of Cedar Creek United Methodist Church, the VFW 376 in Seven Points and the American Legion 310 in Gun Barrel City.
Survivors are wife, Oleta Busby Haney; son, Craig Haney; step-son Richard Braun and wife Teri; daughters, Debra Lamb, Regina Hill and husband Billy, Lanelle Farmer and husband Russell; sisters, Nita Pick and husband Holly, Maxine Lambegard and husband Peter. His legacy continues with 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.Â
He was preceded in death by parents Leaman and Rena Haney and brothers, Wade, Kenneth, Terry and Cleo Haney.
Services will be held at a later date for Mr. BJ Haney.Â
