Steve Haney

Byron Stephen "Steve" Haney, age 81, of Cross Roads, TX passed away on March 12,2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

Steve was born on August 14, 1941 to Marjorie Teetz and Cloneil Haney in Palestine, TX.

After graduating from Malakoff High School in 1959 he received his Masters degree. He taught at Stafford Springs until going to Cayuga High School where he retired. He was the girls basketball coach. After retiring from coaching he worked at Big Brown in Fairfield, TX.

In 2000 he met Renee Dixon. They married June 21, 2001. Steve and Renee had a very special love.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents Majorie Schitozsky Teetz and Willie E Teetz, his brother Leonard E Teetz and step daughter Amber Oberg.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years Renee Haney of Cross Roads, son Kent Haney and wife Dorothy of Waco, daughter Kandy Huggins and husband Monte of Kerens , sister Linda Lamb of Athens, step son Dion Dixon and wife Jessie of Asheville, NC, granddaughters Emily Goodson and husband Derek, Hannah Huggins Ashley Oberg, grandsons Hunter Huggins, Heaton Huggins, Bryce Oberg, Drew Oberg, 2 great grandchildren Lexi and Luke Goodson. He had a host of nieces, nephews and close friends.

There will be a family graveside memorial service.
