Charles Starkes, 84, of Larue TX, beloved dad, pawpaw, and friend was called to his eternal resting place on July 16, 2022.
He entered this world on October 13, 1937 in Athens, TX, born to Isaac and Loreen Starkes.
Charles worked many years for Curtis Mathis Manufacturing. He was a carpenter for Mediterranean Homes. He was a farmer and rancher. He devoted his entire life to loving his family making sure that everyone was taken care of. He never met a stranger. Along the way he taught life lessons to the people he encountered. His granddaughter was the light of his life. He would want to be remembered with laughter.
Charles is preceded in death by his wife Euna B. Cox Starkes, parents Isaac and Loreen Starkes, brothers Kenneth Starkes, Billy Wayne Starkes, sister Laverne Tapley, and son in law Donald Vogt.
He is survived by his daughters Paula Vogt, Kathy Clark and husband Kevin, granddaughter Meghan Vogt, brother James Starkes (Tri City), sisters Dorothy Tapley (Corsicana), Barbara Holder (Tri City), special long time friend Lou Berry, several nieces and nephews, honorary grandsons Joey and Jesse Webb.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 19, 2022 from 5-7 PM at Huckabee Tomlinson Funeral Home, Malakoff, TX.
Service will be 11:00 Am Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Larue Baptist Church, Larue, TX with Bro. Olen Boles, and Bro. Thom Taylor officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Pete Wilcox, Scott Starkes, Doug Tapley, Bubba Tapley, John Casey, Joey Webb and Josh Watson. Honorary pallbearers will be W.J. Manoy, William Giles, Doyle Loden, Dwight Tillman, Thomas Munsil.
Interment will be in New York Cemetery.
