All you golfers in Heaven, be ready! Here he comes, and he's had 3 Hole-in-Ones. He left for Jesus' Heavenly Course on August 15, 2018 after an 11-month journey fighting cancer.
Davy was a loving husband and best friend to his wife, Susie, of 54 years. (She can now watch something other than golf on Saturday and Sunday afternoons at their home on Cedar Creek Lake in Trinidad, Texas.) He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Jennifer King and husband Bob, son Jeff Helm and wife Kristin, brother Ray E. Helm and wife Dee, along with grandchildren Victoria Boyd and husband Brok, Mario & Alee Helm, Karsen, Elliot, Spencer and Whitney Jackson. Great-grandchildren Harper Boyd, Morgan & Kavery Jackson. He will be especially missed by his four-legged fur baby, Dixie Girl. He was Uncle Davy to 14 nieces and nephews, 23 great nieces and nephews and 17 great-great nieces and nephews and too many friends to mention.
Davy was born to Ray Littlejohn Helm, Jr. and Belle Lawson Helm on February 10, 1944. He is predeceased by his parents and his sisters Marilyn Hogan & Norma Jandrew and his four-legged fur baby, Honey Girl.
Davy was proud to have earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Along with golf, hobbies he thoroughly enjoyed including fishing, horse races, gardening and landscaping. Hosting the Annual Family Fish Fry for over 30 years was something he cherished. He had a 19-year career with Kmart management and a 15-year career with TDCJ. Davy was a 30+ year member of Cedar Creek Lake United Methodist Church (CCLUMC) where he was active in United Methodist Men and keeper of the Prayer Garden.
Please wear casual/colorful or golf attire as we celebrate "A Life Well Lived". Visitation will be on Friday, August 17th from 6-8pm at CCLUMC. The celebration will be on Saturday, August 18th at 1:00pm officiated by Rev. Jeff Hastings at CCLUMC followed by a short reception. Burial will follow at Mankin Cemetery at 3:30pm
