Emma Dean Williams

October 2, 1927 — March 2, 2022

Emma Dean Ring Williams, 94, beloved aunt and friend to many died on March 2, 2022 in Athens, Texas. Dean was born on October 2, 1927 to John Robert Ring and Emma Floyd Tindle Ring in Stockton, Missouri. She graduated from Golden City High School in Golden City, Missouri and attended Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Richie Williams, after 34 happily married years, who died on June 16, 1999 from a brain tumor. Her two sisters, Mildred Combes and Ruby I. Freeland, her two brothers, Bruce A. Ring, and John W. Ring, and her aunt, Kenneth Ring who she grew up with, all have died. She is survived by two nieces, Lois Ring of Webb City, Missouri and Judy Ring of Shawnee Mission, Kansas, and two nephews James (Jimmie) R. Freeland and his wife Janis of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Bruce Alden Ring and his wife, Beth, of Jefferson City, Missouri. She also leaves a sister-in-law, Julie (Mrs. Herbert Williams) in California, and many, many friends especially those in Star Harbor and at Malakoff United Methodist Church. She had no children of her own but loved her family dearly.

Deanie as she was known by most of her friends, taught school for two years in Missouri before joining Sears in Kansas City. She worked for Sears for 42 years in Kansas City, Dallas, and Chicago. She and Claude endured the brutal winters for the last three years with Sears in Chicago, so they could retire to their beloved Cedar Creek area. At Sears she rose to buyer for the catalog and mail order business. Her greatest joys were her family, working outside in her yard and garden, playing golf, the Dallas Cowboys, and driving her pink Lincoln Town car. She loved her home in Star Harbor that she and Claude built in 1991, enjoying magnificent sunsets nearly every night. She lived in Star Harbor until February 2020 when she moved into Country Place Senior Living in Athens, Texas. Living in the Cedar Creek Lake area since 1976 she served her community in many ways. She was a member of the Malakoff United Methodist Church and a member of Eastern Star for 60 plus years.

The family is very thankful for the wonderful caregiving provided by Dianne Matthews, Teena Shore, and Country Place Senior Living.
