Mr. Gary Don Hunter was born September 17, 1952 to the parentage of Lorene Dawson (mother) and Jesse Jack Green (Father). He passed away July 4, 2024. Gary, known to his friends as "GayPop" and "G Boski", lived his whole life in Malakoff. He received his education in Malakoff school district. He graduated from Malakoff High School in 1971. He professed his faith at an early age and attended The Church of Living God. At an early age he started working at Lavenders Cafeteria in Ft. Worth, TX with his grandmother Ruthie Mae Alexander (Big Mama) and brother Alvin Green. Later he started working for TXU (Big Brown) for 40 years. He was a member of Amazing Grace Deliverance Church in Mabank. He married the love of his life, Bettie Frankiln, 46 years ago. Gary loved fishing, gardening and playing dominoes.
He is preceded in death by his parents Lorene Dawson (mother) Jesse Green (father) brothers William Roger Hunter, Billy Joe Green, Paul Green, Robert Green, sisters Sarah Brock, Mary Ann Nolan, Margaret Conner, daughter Jerena Caro; and grandmother Ruthie Mae "Big Momma" Alexander.
He is survived by the love of his life Bettie Hunter; children Gary Lamar Hunter, Jeramy Hunter & girlfriend Brooklynne Richard, Alisha Gagliano & husband Joseph, Reginald Johnson & wife Arrecia Johnson; Five brothers, and one sister. Gary's legacy lives on through 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Gary will be 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday July 12, 2024 at Huckabee-Tomlinson Funeral Home, Malakoff, TX. Service will be 11:00 AM Saturday July 13, 2024, at Antioch Baptist Church, 1511 W Royall Blvd., Malakoff, TX, Interment to follow at Steen Cemetery, Malakoff, TX with Pastor Margaret Bradford officiating.
Pallbearers will be Roderick Hunter, Reynard Hunter, Johnny Davis, Clyde Bailey, PeWee Harris, and Joseph Gagliano. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris Hall, Ray Tutson, Eddie Crockett, Joseph Mason, and Vanoid Dawson Jr..
