George "Bud" Graves

Service for George "Bud" Graves JR 83 of Gun Barrel City will be held at Huckabee/Tomlinson Funeral Home Seven Points 11:30 am Friday March 7, 2014 with Wayne Pitchford officiating, burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Seagoville. He was born in Dallas, TX August 7, 1930 to George Graves SR and Pearl Folly Smith and died in Kaufman, TX March 5, 2014.
Bud joined the Navy in 1948 when he was eighteen years old. He had just graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, TX. He attended boot camp in San Diego, CA before being sent to Japan in1950. During the Korean Conflict, Bud performed electronics maintenance work on amphibious as well as carrier aircraft at Iwakuni and Atsugi Naval Air Stations in Japan.
Bud attended the University of Texas Austin and S M U in Dallas where he obtained a BBA degree in 1957. He worked part time while attending college.
He worked in accounting and finance for private industry, the Federal Government retiring after 30 years of service and was self employed.
After retiring he spent his time reading, traveling and attending old west conventions.
Bud is preceded in death by his parents, survived by 2 sisters, Dorothy Lee Pietzsch of Kaufman, TX, Mary Frances Marker of Mabank, TX, 6 nephews, Donald W Sivley of Mabank, TX, Troy Marker of Seven Points, TX, Shawn Marker of Commerce. TX, Robert Pietzsch of Kaufman, TX, Gary Pietzsch of Kaufman. TX, niece Vicki Geeslin of Kaufman, TX
