Larry D. Fate of Tool, TX, formerly of Corsicana, Dallas; Tulsa and Tahlequah, OK, died peacefully at Vitas Hospice Unit in Carrollton on Tuesday, December 12th.   He was born in Casson, MN in 1941 to Merle and Mildred Fate.   The family moved to Tahlequah in 1944 where he lived until joining the U.S. Army where he served for 3 years.  Larry worked in Tulsa and Dallas for many years in industrial xray.  In 1978 he was hired by Mobil Oil to do xray inspections on the Saudi Arabian pipeline.  Later he went again and then to Nigeria in 1991.  He took early retirement in 1995.  He was known for his love of fast boats, motorcycles, tractors and getting a good deal.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marlene Smith and in-laws, Douglas York and Mary Lou York.   He is survived by his wife of nearly 36 years, Karen; sisters/brother in laws Karla York Allen, Burleson; Kim and John Remonte, Corsicana; Kelly and Brendan Culloty, Corsicana; nieces Janet Smith Young (Barry), San Antonio; Karen Smith Dodgen (Robert), Yantis; Sara Crocker Burke (Ronnie), Goldsboro NC; Mary Longbotham, Keene; nephew, William Culloty, Corsicana; Don Smith (Toko), Plano.  Great nephews, Maddox Burke, Goldsboro NC and Jonathan Smith, Plano.
Special thanks to friends and family for their support during this time; the 7th floor staff and critical unit at Dallas Methodist Medical Center; Dr. Atisha Manhas, oncologist and physical therapist, Ryan Schwerk.
Graveside services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2pm at the Tool Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Hastings officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Cedar Creek Lake United Methodist Church or the Humane Society of Cedar Creek Lake.
