Leonard Thompson

Leonard Junior Thompson, 84, of Malakoff, Texas passed away on May 12, 2023 from ongoing health complications.

Leonard was born on December 24, 1939 to Leonard Melton and Enola Michaels Thompson in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.

Leonard married his wife Margaret "Hellon" Tiner on January 5, 1962. Leonard and Hellon went on to have 3 children: Margaret Laverne, Johnny Lynn, and Jackie Lee.

After Leonard retired from working as a floor technician in the maintenance department at Athens Medical Center, he spent his retired life taking care of his wife and mowing yards. He also enjoyed spending time at Lake Athens, fishing, gardening, and watching old westerns on TV.

Leonard was preceded in death by his wife Hellon, his daughter Margaret, and his son Johnny. Leonard is survived by his son, Jackie Thompson, his brother and sister-in-law Lynn and Pearl Thompson, his sister Wanzie Collins, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at First United Methodist Church, Malakoff from 10 AM - 11 PM, and funeral service to follow. Interment will take place at Malakoff Cemetery.
