Myrna K Bass

Myrna K. Johnson Bass, 79 of Malakoff, TX went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 18, 2021.

She was born October 31, 1941 in Corpus Christi, TX to Henry Johnson and Mattie Bell Grantham Johnson.

Myrna spent her lifetime teaching children.  She graduated high school from Mary Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, TX.  She received her Bachelor degree from the University of Corpus Christi in 1963.  She received her Master from Southwest Texas State in 1974.

Myrna taught school for 47 years in eleven different school districts.  She was voted outstanding State and National Speech Educator of the year for 2007 & 2008 school year.  She had a very successful career in teaching and leading in State UIL academic speech competition.  She was highly respected in the field of education.

She is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Mattie Johnson, brothers Eddie Johnson, and Leland Johnson.

Myrna was a beloved wife and mother.  She is survived by her soul mate of 58 years James A. Bass, sons Gregg A. Bass, Glenn E. Bass, grandchildren Jacob Bass, Olivia Bass, Ki Bass, Cree Bass, Kason Bass, Kian Bass.  Her beautiful legacy continues to live on in her great grandchildren Ava Bass, and Rhett Bass.

Memorial service for Myrna will be held 11:00 AM March 12, 2021 at Faith Community Baptist Church with Bro. Dale Norris officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to a memorial fund that has been set up in honor of Myrna’s memory to Faith Community Baptist Church.
