Patricia Kuhn

Patricia Lewis Kuhn, age 85 of Houston Texas (8/18/1937 - 6/7/2023)

Though Pat grew up in Fannett Texas, she was born in Houston and lived there most of her adult life. She met and married her first husband, William Kuhn in 1958 while working for Shell Oil. They had four children together before the marriage ended in 1973. After raising three sons on her own, she graduated from Sam Houston State University at the age of 51 with degrees in English Literature and History. For the next 21 years, she continued to inspire the next generation of youth as an English teacher at MacArthur High School. She retired in 2010 and eventually fell in love again with an old friend. She married Ian Maculay in 2014. They lived in Bishop's Stortford near London together until his death in 2019, when she returned to Houston.

Pat had a love for literature, travel, and lifelong learning. She loved teaching and helping her students reach their highest potential. She enjoyed working in her yard and shopping for a good deal. Her family and friends were the loves of her life, as was her beloved dog, Sherry.

She is preceded in death by former husbands William and Ian, son John Barry, brothers Bobby, Mickey (Norma), and Stanley, and sister Edith. She is survived by sons Bill (Ann), Scott (Cecilia), and Jeffrey (Diya), sisters Kay (Rudy) and Anne, brothers Robby and Robert (Roberta), grandchildren Will (Aaron), Andrew (Nicole), Veronica (Elias), Isabel, and Marlena, great grandchildren James, Greyson, and Idris, and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 16 at 1pm at Huckabee-Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff (403 E Royall Blvd). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Aldine Education Foundation (aldineeducationfoundation.org/).
