Paula Mullican, 83, was called to her eternal resting place on May 22, 2022.
She entered this world on November 7, 1938 in Dallas, TX, born to Paul and Flora Huffman.
She worked as an apartment manager in Mesquite, TX for 18 years. She moved to the Henderson County area in 2008. After her mother and her only sister passed away several years ago, she moved to the Malakoff/Trinidad area to be close to her son Gary and daughter-in-law Sharon. She also wanted to be closer to her niece and nephews so she could, as she would say, help take care of them and keep them in line.
Paula loved thrift shopping and jewelry. She would stop at any and all garage sales, discounted or thrift stores to buy something for pretty much everybody she knew. When nephew, William would get a day off, they would spend the day driving to Ennis or Waxahachie to shop and eat at her favorite cafe. She enjoyed buying jewelry for her great nieces Presley and Everley who loved getting it from her.
She was a member of Crescent Heights Baptist Church where she played the piano and was the treasurer before joining Trinity Baptist Church. And as any good baptist, she claimed her spot on the back pew.
Anyone that knew Paula personally knew she was set in her ways and wouldn't back down. But she would cook meals or buy dinner for anyone needing it. She also wanted, as she would say, for William to look spiffy when he went to work and would make sure he dressed appropriately.
Paula is preceded in death by her parents Paul and Flora Huffman of Dallas, son Gary Ottmo of Malakoff, sister Phyllis Jean Ramsey and husband Raymond Ramsey Sr. of Malakoff.
She is survived by her son James Cole and wife Heather of Georgia, two grandchildren: Stephen and Allyson of Georgia, nephew William Ramsey and wife Lynda, nephew Raymond Ramsey Jr., nephew Sam Ramsey and wife Jenny, nephew David Ramsey and wife LoLita, niece Susan Hutchison all from the Cedar Creek Lake area.
A memorial service for Paula will be held Saturday, June 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church Trinidad, TX.
A private interment will take place at Post Oak Cemetery.
