Robby Lewis

May 10, 1947 — May 27, 2024

Robby Lewis, 77, of Malakoff, passed away in Athens, Texas on Monday, May 27, 2024 after a short illness. Robby and his twin brother, Bobby, were born on May 10, 1947 in Beaumont, Texas to Flonnie and J.L. ("Peanut") Lewis. Besides Bobby, Robby had one older brother, Mickey, and two older sisters, Patricia, and Kay. Robby grew up in Fannett, Texas where he attended Fannett I.S.D. He graduated from Eustace High School after his family re-located to the Malakoff area.

While Robby was growing up in Fannett, the family spent most Summers and week-ends in a beach cabin they owned at Crystal Beach. Robby always loved and enjoyed being at the beach and riding or walking along the beach to search for and discover unique items that would wash ashore. Even as an adult, Robby spent several years living at Crystal Beach, and he never lost his love of "Beach Life".

Robby married Sherry Gayle McBride, and together they had two children: Kori Kristina and John Brady Lewis. Kori married Ignacio Acevedo and they had two sons, Alex and Brady. Robby's oldest grandson, Alex, married Megan Rush. Their new-born son was named Carter (Robby's first great-grandchild!). Robby earned his living doing body work and painting cars and other vehicles. There was usually always a motorcycle, go-cart, lawnmower, or other vehicle parked in Robby's yard that he was tinkering with in his spare time to try to get in running order. For a period of time Robby also worked on oil rigs.

Robby was always very much an animal lover, and was so soft-hearted that he took in many stray animals over the years. Besides a dog as a pet that he would often take along to his job, Robby often had several other animals he was harboring. At one time or another, his pets included cats, ducks, doves, chickens, squirrels, opossums, and even buzzards!

Robby liked the outdoors, but he preferred taking his naps, shirtless, and on the floor in an air-conditioned room. At family gatherings and around his circle of friends Robby was known and appreciated for keeping folks laughing at his quick-witted jokes and humorous quips. His presence will be missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents J.L. ("Peanut") Lewis and Flonnie Cude; son John Brady Lewis; brothers Bobby Lewis, Mickey Lewis; sister Patricia Kuhn.

He is survived by his daughter Kori Lewis Acevedo and husband Ignacio of Canton, TX, grandchildren Brady Acevedo of Canton, TX, Alex Acevedo and wife Megan of Terrell, TX, great-grandchild Carter. He is also survived by his sister Kay Seamayer, sister-in-law Norma Lewis, nieces Noralee Lewis, Audrey Cravens, nephew Brant Lewis, great-nephews Aaron, Jared, Nathan Cravens, great-great niece Marceline Cravens, and so many other cousins, relatives, and loved ones.
