Scott Edward McLaughlin

Scott Edward McLaughlin 55 years old of Athens, TX went home to be with his heavenly Father on November 18, 2016. Scott was born into this world on September 24, 1961 in Detroit, MI to Thomas Peter and Barbara Ann McLaughlin. Scott grew up in the Boy Scouts of America. He earned the rank of Explorer. He graduated from the Seagoville High School where he lettered in swimming. Scott was an avid fisherman. He loved fishing and teaching others to fish and sharing that special time together.
Scott is survived by his loving wife and best friend Rachel McLaughlin, children Sharon Washington and husband Jamie Hammond, Alisha McLaughlin, Cynthia Perry, Joe Webb and wife Amber, Jesse Webb and wife Amanda, mother-in-law Lou Berry, brothers Thomas Michael McLaughlin and wife Pam, Patrick McLaughlin and wife LaVonna, Michael Truskoski and wife Cheri, sisters Debra Rhodes and husband Joe, and Melissa Merritt and husband Jeff. Scott's legacy continues with his cherished grandchildren Wyatt, Dalton, Dylan, Liberty, Bryson, Elicia LaQuint, Montanna, Sarah, Katelin, Tyler, Waylon, Kristopher, Josh, Nick, Beth, Caz, Lynettte, Rosalie, Alisya, Jonathon. Also, a special member of Scott's family is his caregiver and friend Sandra McCloud. He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas Peter McLaughlin, Barbara Ann Kuhle, Nancy Irene McLaughlin, granddaughter Lacey Washington, and brother-in-law Reggie Berry. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the Victorious Praise and Worship in Athens, TX from 12 PM to 2 PM. The service will follow at 2 PM with Brother Ray Goeble officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy McLaughlin, Tom McLaughlin, Joe Rhodes, Wyatt Washington, Dylan Washington, and Tyler Hurt. Honorary pallbearers will be Pat McLaughlin, Dalton, LaQuint, Bryson, Josh, Kris, and Caz.
