Tena Carrell

Tena Carrell was born Ernestine Mathews, at 8:55, on the morning of August 3, 1944, in Athens, TX, to Wretha Viola Morgan Mathews Stanfield and Ernest Derwood Mathews. She lost her year-long battle with salivary gland cancer on April 28, 2024.

Tena grew up in Dallas, TX and graduated from W.H. Adamson High School in 1962. Her career as a legal secretary, office manager, and bookkeeper spanned over 40 years.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents Wretha and Ernest; step-father Harold Lee Stanfield; and brother William.

She is survived by her brother Ernest Mathews, wife Nancy and their family.

Tena will be extraordinarily missed by all who knew her true heart, which shone so brightly through her smile.

Huckabee-Tomlinson Funeral Home will have a brief memorial service, at 2:00 PM on Tuesday April 30, 2024, at Trinidad City Cemetery, Trinidad, Texas.
