Charles Anthony (Tony) Ward, 56 years old of Mabank, TX, went to sleep peacefully in his earthly home and woke up in the arms of Jesus on April 11, 2018.
He was born in Lubbock, TX, May 14, 1961 the son of Alton Ward and Ila "Inez" White Ward.
Tony, as he was known to his friends and family loved the wildlife and outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and was particularly fond of Alaska, where he took his whole family to live for a few years. He submerged himself in the wildlife culture there from snow boots to dog sleds! He loved the large mammals there and fishing in the deep, cold waterways.
He was very talented. He was an accomplished craftsman in cabinetry, furniture and home design. He could repair automobiles and machine easily too. His love for cars was evident at an early age and he was regularly under many hoods. He was fascinated how things worked and eager to figure things out.
Although he was a busy man, he was always willing to help others who wanted to learn from him by teaching them his skills. That included his fishing techniques, too!
Tony loved his family and his friends. But most of all, his children. Anyone could see his depth of love through his eyes; as he spoke about them he swelled with pride and satisfaction. He was proud of his 4 grandchildren, too!
He loved a good laugh, getting the satisfaction of telling a great joke and making others laugh and enjoy themselves. The twinkle in his eyes usually meant he knew he had already figured out something before you did! His laugh was rich in boyish humor with a gentleman's touch.
Tony loved the song, "Sitting at the Dock of The Bay". He loved John Wayne movies and old westerns. He also loved to hear "Amazing Grace." Tony gave his soul to God the Monday before Easter this year. He expressed his awe in God and how He handled this world and us. Our Tony will be so greatly missed here, but in Heaven; how exciting to think about the newness in Christ that he has now and how amazed and excited he must be at God and all of Heaven!
Tony leaves behind his mother, Inez Ward of Austin, TX; three sons, T.J; Ward and wife Elaine of San Antonio, TX; Kerry Calvert and wife Janelle of Vernon, British Columbia; and Cory Ward and wife Brittany of Amherst, Massachusetts and one daughter Amanda Evans and husband Luke of Tool, TX. One brother Greg Ward and wife Angie of Tool, TX and one sister Diane Fox and husband Rhea of Austin, TX. His legacy lives on in his three granddaughters Tyler and Bella Evans and Violet Ward and one grandson Lincoln Evans. He has numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many loves ones.
