Vernon Lee Smithers passed away at home on November 13, 2014 at the age of 80. Vernon was born on September 7, 1934 in Robbins Tennessee to Walter Smithers and Bertha Bowling Smithers.
Vernon entered the air force in 1952 and proudly served our country for 22 years. He loved the air force. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and cooking. He collected and restored clocks. He is survived by his loving wife Erma Smithers of Trinidad, sisters, Faye Moline and husband John, Louvella Barnes and husband Max, Phyllis Neely and husband Jerry, sister -in-law Clara Smithers of Trinidad, brother-in-law Harold Braswell, other family members Buddy and Annis Clapp of Arlington, Jack and Cathy Smithers and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Bertha Smithers, brothers, Dillard, Raymond and Houston Smithers, sisters, Violet Bowers, Delia Clapp and Shirley Braswell.
Service will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Huckabee/Tomlinson Funeral Home in Seven Points, TX
Interment will follow at Dallas/ FT Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, TX Clergy: Rocky Weatherford
